LEAKS DURING CURING? Check Your Valves!

There are 3 simple things to look for to help make sure you don’t have problems:

  1. LARGE BASE – Look for a valve footprint of at least 2.5” combined with large air channels to accommodate better air flow than a traditional small base valve and to prevent air trap on the tread.
  2. WASHER & STEM – Look for a large diameter washer equipped with a negative o-ring. This design utilizes the envelope to create a self-sealing washer. Envelope valve stems should have a thread stop to prevent overtightening of the nut.
  3. TORQUE & LOCTITE – The valve nut should be tightened to the manufacturer’s recommended torque. Any valve adapter should include Loctite and proper torque to prevent leaks throughout the service life of the envelope.
